Activities at Lahore
•
The 17th Executive Board Meeting was held at Lahore on Sunday
14th September when a number of important road related issues
were discussed. Members from all over the country (with the
exception of members from Baluchistan) had come to attend the
meeting. The President, Mr. Umar Ali Khan Baluch from Multan,
the Secretary General, Capt. K. Raffat Zaheer from Karachi and
representatives from Islamabad, Faislabad and NWFP were present.
Sardar M. Humayun Khan, Joint Secretary (Punjab) was the host
of the meeting.
• Capt. K. Raffat Zaheer, Secretary General and Sardar
M. Humayun Khan, Joint Secretary (Punjab) had useful meetings
with Mr. Sabtain Halim, Secretary, C&W Department (Government
of Punjab) when the establishment of the Accident Reporting
Centre for the whole of the province was discussed.
• Meetings were also held by both representatives of ARUP
with the ADIG (Traffic) Punjab Police and SP Traffic, Lahore.
Both meetings related to the establishment of the Accident Reporting
Centre that would be the first Research and Development project
in Pakistan. Funds are expected to be forth coming from the
Asian Development Bank has shown keen interest in developing
this public / privates sector partnership.
• Another meeting was held at the office of Dupont Pakistan,
who are a corporate member of ARUP.
• A meeting of ARUP members residing in Lahore was also
held during the Secretary General’s visit to the city.

• Starting road traffic safety education for school children
• Traffic safety and environment protection road camps
at designated crossings
• Concerted drive to induct new members including life
and corporate members
