Activities since last news letter:

Lahore

• SWOV and Punjab Traffic Police held a Seminar at Hotel Sunfort, on 07.05.1999 about Road Safety in Lahore. Sardar M. Humayun Khan was one of the three persons who read papers during the seminar where he suggested that NGOs like ARUP should join hands with the authorities towards the drive for improving road safety in Lahore and eventually allover the Country.
  
• In access of 50 persons attended the seminar comprising of Government and police officials together with repetitive from semi Government organizations and private citizens. The chief guest was Mr. Irfan Ahamd Daha, Minister of Transport Government of Punjab.
• The highlight of seminar was the announcement of start a pilot project where a special police of 200 personnel will be established. They will have better working conditions and pay, similar to enable them to carry out their duties in a befitting manner. In addition, there is a serious proposal for the establishment of driving school especially to train drivers for public transport vehicles.

Registration
Document for registration in accordance with the provisions of the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies {Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961 (XLVI 1961) are ready and, will be initiated after signatures of the President.

Executive Board Meeting

Next Executive Board meeting (as proposed by Secy General) is scheduled for Thursday 03 June at 1030 in the office of Secy Coordination at Unit # 9, Ist Floor, Souk Al-Hashir Plaza, F-10 Markaz, Islamabad.
