Activities -Current
Country office

Five-member team of ARUP had an hour-long meeting on 3 Sep at World Bank with visiting "World Bank Audit Mission". Brief on activities since start and future plans were followed by discussions on various subjects.
Four-member team participated in video conference held on 13 Sep on the subject of "Road Fund and Tolls". Washington Office controlled the conference in which India, Nepal and Pakistan participated.

Sindh
Work on extending membership in new districts continued. Pace of recruitment is being maintained with the sincere efforts of provincial team. Works are now being organized in few more districts of the province.
Sindh office has also requested concerned authorities regarding dangerous crossings in Karachi and for setting up Vehicle Emission -resting Station (VETS) in Sindh

Punjab
Conference for Faisalabad district is on and may be held on 02 October or as soon as some administrative hurdles are managed. Another workshop at Multan is also being planned during this or next month.
Two meetings were held at Lahore with the visiting World Bank Audit Missions. Representatives of truckers also participated in one of these.

NWFP
Works on enrollment and setting up a working office at Peshawar are being attended to urgently.
Proper report on last NWFP Conference has not been compiled because the video
Recording of the same has not been sent to country office.

Baluchistan
A workshop was to be held in September and the latest on the same is awaited.

Future Line of Action

World Bank
In a long meeting held with the team of World Bank it has been agreed that except for the two old bills no funds for admin, travel, meetings, workshops etc will be provided by the bank. These will have to be met from own resources generated through membership charges or other government or private sponsors. World Bank will provide technical and financial assistance to project and work related requirements. Proper work proposal will have to be prepared for the same with concurrence of Executive Board and provincial boards when the same are established.

To Increase our strength of volunteers an advertisement has been published in leading newspapers. Volunteers sending their CV will be sent an information leaflet and joining form by the country office. List will also be provided to the representative provincial offices for future coordination.

Urgent
All provincial offices are requested to kindly work on preparing specific work plans for the next few months.

Executive Board Meeting Schedule
Next executive board meeting is being proposed for the November. All members are requested to give their views on place, date, program, agenda and possibility of sponsors for the same. Agenda points for the next Executive Board meeting and confirmation of your participation are to be communicated by October 15th.

Miscellaneous

Issue of Identity cards for the members of Executive Board is being delayed, as many members have not sent a photograph and copy of their ID card to country office.
Please send your proposal regarding list of address for the enclosed newsletter to country office.

INFORMATION
Monthly information activities, state of work and funds need to be streamlined and forwarding of information to country office regularly please be ensured. No information for the month of August has been received.

Nominations for vacant provincial posts of executive board are still awaited.
Absent members. Subject of absent members came under discussion in the last meeting. One of the three absent members, Mr. ANSAB AMIN CH. wrote a letter and later visited country office explaining reasons for his long absence. We can now be proud that one of our executive board members was busy at the active front in Kargil Sector.

20% FUNDS
Management of the country office and meeting day to day expenses is getting out of control. All provincial & regional offices are once again requested to forward agreed 20% funds generated earliest.
